ISST’s specialized schema therapy bulletin, a summer special, was published on the topic of sexualization of mentalities and schemas.
In this issue, the authors provide rich explanations of how schemas and mentalities become sexualized, and how, through careful assessment and targeted schema therapy interventions, we can help our clients develop healthier and more satisfying sexual identities and functioning.
Liz Lacey outlines some of the ways in which schemas and mentalities may become sexualized, and reinforces the suggestion that authentic gender should be considered a core need.
Ruth Holt highlights the ways in which unmet needs and the presence of childhood trauma, particularly sexual or physical trauma, can lead to schemas and states that may become sexualized as the child matures and begins to develop a sexual identity.
Wendy Bahari, Lars Madsen, Andrew Phipps, Rachel Chapman also contributed ideas for the bulletin.
ISST specialized bulletins are available free of charge exclusively to official members of the ISST International Association.
